Kristy Figueroa-Contreras

Kristy Figueroa-Contreras is the Founding Attorney of Figueroa-Contreras Law Group. She practices exclusively in U.S. immigration, nationality and consular law, and criminal defense — with a particular focus on representing non-citizens facing criminal charges and addressing criminal convictions in their immigration and consular proceedings.

Ms. Figueroa-Contreras earned her Juris Doctor in 2002 from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. As part of her legal training she completed a judicial clerkship with federal criminal trial judge Jorge L. Ballestero in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and pursued advanced studies in Latin American Legal Systems and Comparative Criminal Law at Universidad del Salvador. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (1997) and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages — French (1998), both from Florida International University.

She is admitted to The Florida Bar and is one of a small number of attorneys board-certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in immigration and nationality law. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; and all immigration courts throughout the United States and its territories. She regularly appears Pro Hac Vice in federal district courts across the country.

Ms. Figueroa-Contreras is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and multiple chapters of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Beyond her native English, she counsels clients in Spanish, French, and Portuguese — reflecting the firm's commitment to serving an international clientele.
